WE ARE A GARDEN CENTER WITH FRESH CUT FLOWERS
THE FLOWER COURT (the English Translation for our previous name, De Bloemen Hof) has been supporting the garden and lawn care needs in and around Pella, Iowa since 2007.
We moved to a new location in Newton, Iowa in 2023. In addition, in June, we purchased the Fresh Flowers part from Fine Things Reclaimed which provided Fresh Bouquets, Plants, and Arrangements.
It is a family owned and operated garden center with fresh cut flowers located in the industrial section of Newton on E 10th St N.
Newton is the county seat of Jasper County known for the Iowa Speedway, Valle Drive In (one of oldest, and most authentic drive-in movie theaters in Iowa), as well as being the former headquarters of Maytag Corporation. As a local garden center, we hope that we contribute significantly to the beauty and color of this small Iowa town.
If you are a gardener, a homeowner or a business that is looking for some outdoor beautification, we carry a full array of annuals, perennials, grasses, shrubs, trees, potted roses, house plants, seeds, bulbs, gardening supplies, & pottery. We service the community by offering advice on landscaping and lawn care.

DENNIS VAN GORP
Dennis has been around plants and growing things for much of his life, beginning on the farm of his childhood. As he grew older, he worked and had ownership of De Jong Greenhouses, a wholesale potted plant business, for many years. Eventually, his passions and expertise led him to purchase De Bloemen Hof Garden Center, now known as The Flower Court Garden Center.
Jill De Vries
As Dennis’ daughter, Jill grew up immersed in the world of gardening, plants, floral arranging and landscaping. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the business and has obtained the coveted “Proven Winners” certification.

We have a team of dedicated employees – both seasoned and seasonal – that work tirelessly to serve you in a variety of ways. Whether it be dispensing advice, designing a landscape or creating the perfect arrangement – they have you covered.
OUR MISSION
IS TO FOSTER SUCCESS FOR BEAUTIFYING YOUR HOME INSIDE AND OUT. WE HAVE BIG-TIME QUALITY SERVICE, CREATIVITY, AND AN ABUNDANT INVENTORY RANGING FROM OUTDOOR PLANTS, INDOOR PLANTS, AND FRESH CUT FLOWERS.
FAREWELL
After multiple attempts to relocate in Pella, it failed to materialize and due to the City of Pella Code 165, we are saddened by the necessity to relocate entirely to a production location in Newton.
We have so many great customers, good memories, Renaud’s Farm & Garden, Paul’s Lawn & Garden, Dale & Deb De Nooy’s De Bloemen Hof for eight years, and ours for sixteen years.
We are still in the process of moving to 1110 East 10th Street North in Newton and will be known as The Flower Court Garden Center. Our telephone number and email will remain the same. We will honor all our gift cards either in Newton, or call for delivery to Pella. It’s still our home.
